Prolific Oil Painter...
Painter of Memories..

Don creates his works in realistic oils with incredible detail and bright colors. He favors painting subjects from the local community such as local train stations, river boats and historic sites. Portraits are painted on commission ranging from house portraits to formal portraitures. He likes to make custom portraits of people in motion, using their skills and in their own surroundings to make the painting uniquely their own.  Don states, "When I am asked which painting I consider my best work, I like to think it is the one that I am working on or the one I haven't started!"

About Don Huff

Pattie Purnell is a second-generation artist who found

inspiration when viewing the antique silhouette of the Dinsmore family that were displayed at the Dinsmore Homestead. She began creating the silhouettes at a Christmas event held at the estate. Pattie's father, Don Huff, is an accomplished oil painter and does portraits, landscapes and more (see below).  She continues to share the inspiration her father gave her with her grandchildren, Lindsay and Logan, who make up the family's third generation of artists.

A second-generation artist skilled in Silhouette, Freelance, Pen and ink and more...

Pattie went to Gateway College for Graphic Design. She worked as a graphic designer for a printer and did freelance graphic design and illustrations.  Pattie also illustrated a couple of books along the way.  In addition to silhouettes, her skills include freelance, pen and ink illustrations, watercolor paintings & illustrations, architectural renderings of homes and historic buildings, portraits, landscapes, etc.  The books she illustrated are titled: "Hand Me Down CookBook," "Boone County, The Top of Kentucky," "Down at Dinsmore," plus several Episcopal Ministries publications.

Pattie has many memories of work she has done.  She states, "At Appalachian Culture Fest I did a young man's silhouette portrait that had a red mohawk that was seven inches high! People come by my booth at festivals with so many stories about silhouettes: about how their mother had silhouettes done of the whole family years ago, their grandmother kept heirloom silhouettes of the family. I have received many returned customers. I have cut their child's silhouette as a baby and then as a toddler and again in grade school. I was commissioned to do silhouettes at a wedding in West Chester, Ohio. I was set up next to a table of the young friends of the bride that were having lots of fun and had some "different" requests of silhouettes.  I did one of a girl holding a wine glass and one of a guy holding a cigarette."
